This week in AI, Google released the first GPU-accelerated cloud TPUs. Google’s cloud TPUs are designed to accelerate machine learning workloads, and allow customers to combine GPU and TPU resources in a single server. Google also released an update to its Cloud Natural Language API that allows it to identify the language of a text as well as providing more insights into the text structure and content.AI-powered medical testing startup Prenetics launched a new platform to speed up the implementation of genetic tests in healthcare. The startup’s Genome Xchange platform takes genetic testing out of the lab and into the digital world, with a secure, cloud-based infrastructure, high-speed analytics, and automatic synchronization with existing databases. Finally, Facebook’s AI division announced a new project called Data Mapping Tool to help researchers map out large-scale data and datasets between different systems. The tool aims to enable researchers to better analyze and compare datasets across different platforms.
