This week in data Science, a new research report was released looking at AI’s potential impact on jobs. The report concluded that automation will largely replace the need for human employees in some roles and could result in a net loss of jobs in the coming years. Additionally, research from Gartner predicted that AI-driven processes will create more jobs than they will displace in the coming decade. In other news, a collaborative research project between Purdue University and Microsoft created an AI-driven framework aimed at improving forecasting accuracy in the supply chain industry. Finally, the White House has announced a new initiative to support the development of data science professionals in the US. The goal of the program is to train 15,000 data experts over the next five years.
